Abrasive water jet is an excellent choice for cutting expensive exotic metals such as titanium, brass, tool steel and Nickel Alloys. With water jet cuttings small cutting jet (kerf,) parts can be tightly nested , raw material is maximised with less scrap waste.

Alloy 400 perforated filter screens

Our customer came to us with the requirement to supply unique perforated filter screens, each filter comprised of over 1000 12mm holes on non standard cross centres.

With no heat input water jet cutting avoids distortion and warping, there are no set up costs or tooling charges.

Perforated sheet cut without distortion or warping Monel alloy 400Punching & Laser problems

Initially our customer approached specialist metal sheet perforating companies, however due to the unique nature of the filters specialist tooling would have to have been made at a high set up cost.

Laser was also considered, however due to the high heat input, the high amount of holes & the close proximity of the holes distortion and warping of the plates would have been unavoidable.

Quality cutting costs less
